How to Use a Copper Neti Pot – Step-by-Step Guide

Using a Copper Neti Pot is a simple yet powerful way to support clear breathing and sinus health. Rooted in the Ayurvedic practice of Jala Neti, this daily nasal cleansing technique helps flush out allergens, mucus, and environmental pollutants from your nasal passages.

Here’s how to use your Copper Neti Pot safely and effectively:

What You’ll Need:

  • Your pure copper neti pot

  • Sterile, distilled, or previously boiled and cooled water (never use tap water directly)

  • Non-iodized salt (such as pure sea salt or Himalayan salt)

  • A clean towel

🔹 Step-by-Step Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Saline Solution

    • Mix about ¼ to ½ teaspoon of non-iodized salt into 1 cup (250ml) of lukewarm sterile or distilled water.

    • Stir well until completely dissolved.

  2. Fill the Copper Neti Pot

    • Pour the saline solution into your clean copper neti pot.

  3. Get into Position

    • Lean over a sink. Tilt your head to one side, keeping your forehead at the same level as your chin.

    • Gently insert the spout into the upper nostril, forming a seal.

  4. Start the Flow

    • Breathe through your mouth.

    • Slowly tilt the pot to allow the solution to flow into one nostril and out the other.

    • Continue until the neti pot is half empty.

  5. Switch Sides

    • Repeat the process on the other side using the remaining solution.

  6. Clear Your Nostrils

    • Gently blow your nose to expel any remaining water and mucus.

    • You can bend forward slightly and exhale sharply to clear the sinuses further.

💧 Aftercare Tips:

  • Rinse your copper neti pot with warm water and dry thoroughly after each use to maintain hygiene and prevent tarnish.

  • Store in a dry place. Avoid using harsh detergents or abrasive cleaners.
